Weekly Market Outlook
By Keith Schneider
Holy Cow! In our Dec 23rd edition of Market Outlook, we detected that the underpinning of the market’s Teutonic plates were shifting as we felt the stirrings of a paradigm shift. And "Viola", a mediocre resolution to the fiscal cliff exposed it all. This week’s dramatic reversal, the selloff in Gold, a stronger dollar, and an explosive move in stocks, all while rates feasted upon a new and perhaps leaner meal, requires some rethinking about the current economic climate. The steady growth in the economy along with the last second deal on the fiscal cliff was enough to prompt some at the Fed to threaten to take away the punchbowl.
No question things are running a bit rich, so short term we could use some digesting. But, the markets are at such interesting points, so rather than belabor or prattle on, let's get right into the charts.
Have a great weekend.
