The Trading Lesson Hidden Inside a Cartoon
One of the biggest misconceptions people have when they first discover our Economic Modern Family characters is that because the content is entertaining, the lessons must be simplistic.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Shortly, we will release our third Crypto Bro video on YouTube. The character is fun. The animation is fast. The delivery is humorous. But the lesson is one of the most powerful trend-following concepts I have used throughout my trading career:
Use the 50-Day Moving Average as your tailwind.
When price is above a rising 50-DMA, momentum is working in your favor. That is not the time to be timid. It is the time to let your winners run.
As Crypto Bro explains, when price accelerates above a rising 50-day moving average, you can go "full steam ahead" and participate in the trend.
But every trend eventually ends. (Just watch the latest Sister Semiconductors lesson)
The same indicator that keeps you in the trade can help get you out.
When price breaks below the 50-DMA, the tailwind disappears. Momentum is shifting. Risk is increasing. That is when disciplined traders reduce exposure or exit.
Simple? Yes.
Easy? No.
Yet this concept has survived decades of market cycles because it works.
